The Silvretta reservoir is the Montafon’s classic cycling destination: through the whole valley to Partenen and then up to the Bielerhöhe. At around 76 km and 1,700 m of ascent the tour is a day stage for the fit or e-bikers with a big battery. Important: the Silvretta High Alpine Road is closed on the Vorarlberg side until around 2030 – the climb from Partenen currently follows the track to the Vermunt reservoir, and the last section to the Bielerhöhe uses the tunnel bus (bike transport subject to availability) or is on foot. Please check the current arrangements locally.

At the top, the loop around the lake by bike or on foot is worthwhile; the descent through the Montafon is long and fast. Road cycling portals from abroad list the Bielerhöhe among the great Alpine passes – even if it is currently only fully rideable from the Tyrolean side.

The route leads from Aktivpark Montafon via Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße and back to the starting point.

Helmets are compulsory, hikers have priority. Bike transport on cable cars only at set times or by online booking.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.
