Alpengasthaus Rellseck
Viewpoint inn at 1,500 m above Bartholomäberg, Stockhammer family since 1987: Rätikon panorama, Kaiserschmarren, mountain breakfast – on foot or by hotel bus only.
The Alpengasthaus Rellseck stands at 1,500 m on a former maisäß pasture in a corner position high above the Rellstal – hence the name – on the sunny slope of Bartholomäberg. From the terrace the view sweeps over the whole Rätikon to Bludenz and into the Walgau; just below stands the listed St John's chapel of 1948. The inn opened in 1965 and since 1987 has been run by Peter and Silke Stockhammer as a second business alongside their Hotel Bergerhof in the village. The cooking is down-to-earth: soups, cold platters, sausage and cheese specialities, home-made Kaiserschmarren and cakes; from July to September there is a mountain breakfast on Wednesdays from 8 to 10 am with Sura Kees, bacon, farmhouse bread and home-made jams (€19, book by Tuesday evening). The business is part of the bewusstmontafon initiative.
There is no car access for guests. On foot you start at the baroque church in Bartholomäberg (car park, bus from Schruns): a good hour via the Lindaweg, up to 1¾ hours via the Roferweg or past the historic mine and the Fritzensee, about 400 m of ascent either way. More comfortable is the Bergerhof hotel bus at 9.30 and 11 am (daily except Monday, booking required, €7.50), back at 3.45 and 4.45 pm. From our house allow about 20 minutes to Bartholomäberg. Summer 2026 from 23 May, daily 10 am – 6 pm; winter operation was discontinued recently – please ask.
