Alpstöbli Tafamunt

Small alpine inn at the Tafamunt station of the aerial tramway above Partenen (1,550 m): mountain breakfast, alpine fare, playground – gateway to the Wiegensee.

all year 👨‍👩‍👧 Family friendly

The Alpstöbli Tafamunt sits at around 1,550 m at the Tafamunt station of the small aerial tramway that floats up from Partenen in about 5 minutes. The cable car belongs to the energy company illwerke vkw, while the inn is privately run by host Roman Aloch and his team: simple alpine fare and small treats, a mountain breakfast on request, plus a sun terrace overlooking the upper Montafon and a playground for children. It is a summer-only business, as the Tafamunt tramway does not run in winter.

From our house it is 8 km (bus 650 about 20 minutes to the Partenen terminus, then a 5-minute walk to the valley station). The Alpstöbli is above all a starting point: in about 1½ hours you reach the Wiegensee, a raised bog and European protected area, and can continue to the Verbellner Winterjöchli and the Neue Heilbronner Hütte or down to the Kopssee reservoir. For the Versalspitze, use the early ride to the upper station (1,718 m), which is served only between 8.30 and 9 am. Tafamunt tramway summer 2026: 4 June – 18 October, rides 8.30 am – 12 noon and 1 – 4.45 pm, no bike transport.
