The landscape trail Gaschurn–Partenen–Galtür carries the Austrian hiking quality seal and tells of life between two valleys: Maisäß settlements and alps above Gaschurn, the Illwerke reservoirs, the Kops and Wiegensee lakes and finally the crossing of the Zeinisjoch into the Paznaun to Galtür. Around 25 km and 1,600 m of ascent, split over two days with an overnight stay in Partenen or at the Zeinisjoch.

Moderate, with long but never exposed climbs; boards explain landscape, energy production and history. Return from Galtür currently by bus over the Arlberg or on foot – the Silvretta High Alpine Road is closed on the Vorarlberg side.

Start early – summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms. Carry enough water; many huts are only open from late June to late September.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.

Landbus 650, stop Gaschurn Versettla cable car (approx. 10 min from St. Gallenkirch); ski bus in winter.
