The Seetal is a high valley at around 2,000 m below the Hochjoch containing three small mountain lakes: the Kälbersee, the heart-shaped Herzsee and the Schwarzsee. The Seetal trail from the Kapell summit station links them over a good five kilometres with little climbing – travel reports from Germany, the Netherlands and the UK call it the finest family hike on the Hochjoch. Along the way: the Seetalhüsli with its terrace, the practice via ferrata at the Kälbersee, marmots and the view to the Zimba.

Around two hours of pure walking; if you like, climb on from the Schwarzsee to the Kreuzjoch or the Wormser Hütte. The Hochjoch cable car runs from Schruns, 10 minutes from us.

The route leads via Flugberg, Aussichtsberg and Abenteuerberg to Bergstation Hochjoch Bahn.

Start early – summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms. Carry enough water; many huts are only open from late June to late September.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.
