Silvrettasee via the Sommerweg to the Wiesbadener Hut

The summer path is the more beautiful alternative to the track through the Ochsental: it climbs gently above the Silvretta reservoir over alpine meadows and boulder fields, always with a view of Piz Buin, Silvrettahorn and the Ochsental glacier, and reaches the Wiesbadener Hütte at 2,443 m after about 2½ hours. The return is easy along the track – around 14 km and a good 450 m of ascent in total.

Hiking guides from Austria and abroad count the Wiesbadener Hütte among the most beautiful hut locations in the Eastern Alps; if you have time, add the glacier trail or stay overnight and experience sunrise on Piz Buin. Feasible for families with older children, not for pushchairs.

The route leads from Bushaltestelle Silvrettasee via Silvrettasee and Blick auf den Piz Buin and back to the starting point.

💡 Tips & refreshments

Vermunt cable car + tunnel bus from Partenen; allow for the last descent at 5 pm. The hut serves drinks and hot food.

🚌 Getting there by public transport

Landbus 650 to Partenen, then Vermunt cable car + tunnel bus to the Bielerhöhe (summer 2026: 20 June–4 Oct, uphill 8–12 and 13–16:30, last descent 17:00). Approx. 1 h in total from St. Gallenkirch.

🅿️ Parking

Note: the Silvretta High Alpine Road is closed on the Vorarlberg side after rockfalls, expected until 2030 – car access only from Tyrol (Galtür). The Vermunt cable car car park in Partenen is closed in 2026 for construction; use alternative parking in Partenen village.
