Suggadin trail: Gargellen – Galgenul – St. Gallenkirch

The Gargellen valley is a narrow, wooded side valley through which the Suggadin stream tumbles in cascades. The Suggadin trail accompanies it downstream from Gargellen (approx. 1,420 m): across wooden bridges, past traditional Maisäß settlements such as Valisera, through forest and meadows to Galgenul and on into the centre of St. Gallenkirch (approx. 880 m). Since the trail runs downhill almost all the way, it suits families well and makes a good half-day – with the sound of the water, butterfly meadows and repeated views of the Rätikon peaks.

Practical: take the Landbus (line 670) up to Gargellen in 20 minutes and walk back; the finish is only 1.5 km from our house. For a shorter version get off in Galgenul – there the trail crosses the road and leads across the meadows to Gortipohl.
