„Vom Tafamunt to the Wiegensee and via the Schrofen (Außerganifer) to Partenen“ is a demanding hike in the Montafon.

The route measures 7.7 km, with 420 m of ascent and 923 m of descent, pure walking time is around 3:30 hours. The highest point is at 1,933 m, the lowest at 1,033 m.

The starting point is reached by cable car – in summer the ride is included with the Freizeit-WildPass (summer multi-day pass), otherwise a lift ticket is needed; the free Montafon guest card only gives a discount.

The route leads via Blick auf die Silvretta-Hochalpenstrasse, Vermunttal, Tafamuntbahn, 15. Gerhard Blaas, 2. Apart Alte Post (Elke Tschofen), 5. Montafoner Schnitzstube (Maria Pfefferkorn), 12. Sport Stöckl (Ulli Stöckl) and 3. Pension Christophorus (Angelika Lechleitner).

Start early – summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms. Carry enough water; many huts are only open from late June to late September.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.

Landbus 650 to Partenen (terminus), Tafamunt and Vermunt cable cars a 5-minute walk; approx. 20 min from St. Gallenkirch.
