Panoramagasthof Kristberg
Hotel-restaurant of the Zudrell family on the Kristberg gourmet mountain (1,441 m), 250 m from the top station: Sura Kees in bacon, Gault&Millau recommended – since 1964.
The Panoramagasthof Kristberg stands at 1,441 m on the Kristberg saddle above the Silbertal, 250 m from the top station of the Kristbergbahn – where a maisäß hut stood in 1914 and the Zudrell family opened their inn in 1964. Today Jasmin, Sophia and Jürgen Zudrell run a three-star hotel with restaurant, sauna and a terrace whose panorama takes in the Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall. The kitchen helped earn the Kristberg its nickname "gourmet mountain": Sura Kees wrapped in bacon, Montafon miners' salad, hay-flower soup, beggars' soup with Sura Kees, home-made Kaiserschmarren, venison and pike-perch, plus a children's menu and a Montafon mountain breakfast. Gault&Millau has recommended it for years, the house holds the AMA gastronomy seal, is a member of bewusstmontafon and, by its own account, operates climate-neutrally. Dogs are welcome; the website is also available in Dutch.
The Kristberg road may only be used in summer with a permit or booking confirmation and is closed in winter – you come by the Kristbergbahn (summer 2026: 1 May – 1 November; hotel guests are collected by electric snowmobile in winter) or on foot from Silbertal (550 m of ascent). From our house allow about 35 minutes to Silbertal (bus 650 to Schruns, local bus 680). Next to the inn stand St Agatha's chapel, the oldest church in the Montafon (miners' guided tour Thursdays 2 pm), and the Silberpfad trail; in winter 25 km of winter walking trails and the panorama cross-country track beckon. Summer 2026: 1 May – 26 October, restaurant daily 8 am – 6 pm; winter 11 December 2026 – 29 March 2027.
