Atelier Roland Haas

Studio of Schruns painter Roland Haas (b. 1958): watercolour, acrylic, land art and printmaking from Spitsbergen to Antarctica – visits by e-mail appointment.

all year 🍼 Stroller friendly 🌧️ Also in bad weather

Roland Haas, born in Bludenz in 1958, has worked from the Montafon all his life after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (1978 to 1984) – and has shaped the valley's art scene: as co-founder and artistic director of the Kunstforum Montafon since 1996 and as project leader of the SilvrettAtelier, the art symposium on the Bielerhöhe. His own work encompasses classical and experimental watercolour and acrylic painting, land art that mirrors the colours and structures of the landscape, lithography and art in public space. More than a thousand watercolours were painted in the open air, on journeys from Spitsbergen and Greenland via the Sahara and Nepal to New Zealand and Antarctica; in 2026 he showed a retrospective under the title “50 Jahre Aquarellkunst”. Haas also describes himself as a ski instructor and hiking guide – for him the mountains are motif and method at once.

The studio at Batloggstraße 42 in Schruns is not a museum with opening hours but a working space: visits are possible by appointment via e-mail to r.haas@kfm.at, ideally combined with a course or a guided tour at the Kunstforum. From our house it is 10.2 km or 12 minutes; from Schruns station it is a few minutes' walk. If you would like to see his work without an appointment, watch for exhibitions at the KFM in the Kronengasse.
