St. Gallenkirch – Gortipohl village loop
Right on our doorstep: the official village loop links Gortipohl with the centre of St. Gallenkirch – baroque parish church, old Montafon farmhouses and meadow paths along the Ill.
The village loop from the Vorarlberg state hiking network starts practically on our doorstep in Außergant/Gortipohl and leads down the valley for a good three kilometres into the centre of St. Gallenkirch and back on the other side of the Ill river. Along the way: the parish church of St. Gallus with its baroque interior, Montafon farmhouses with a masonry ground floor and timber upper storey – like our holiday house –, meadows, small chapels and repeated views up the valley towards Gargellen and across to the Valisera cable car.
The loop is ideal for your arrival day, a rainy-day stroll or the evening: hardly any climbing, good paths, benches and places to eat in the centre. Pushchairs manage most of the route well.
