„Montafoner Verwallrunde“ is a demanding long-distance stage in the Montafon.

The route measures 36.8 km, with 1543 m of ascent and 1453 m of descent, pure walking time is around 12 hours. The highest point is at 2,309 m, the lowest at 880 m.

The starting point is reached by cable car – in summer the ride is included with the Freizeit-WildPass (summer multi-day pass), otherwise a lift ticket is needed; the free Montafon guest card only gives a discount.

The route leads via Talstation Montafoner Kristbergbahn, Almhütte Fellimännle, Schwarzsee in Silbertal, Langsee, Blick zum Kopssee, Wiegensee and Vermunttal.

Start early – summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms. Carry enough water; many huts are only open from late June to late September.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.

🚌 Getting there by public transport

Landbus 680 Schruns–Silbertal to the Kristberg cable car valley station; hiking bus into the upper Silbertal (summer). From St. Gallenkirch via Schruns approx. 35 min.
