At 2,965 m the Schesaplana is the highest mountain of the Rätikon and a summit you reach without climbing – but not without effort. From the Lünersee the path leads to the Totalphütte (2,385 m, about 1½ hours) and on over scree, slabs and the broad summit ridge to the cross; around 10 km and 1,000 m of ascent, 5 to 6 hours there and back. At the top you stand on the Swiss border with views from Lake Constance to the Bernina.

Alpine experience, a head for heights and an early start are essential; in early summer snow often remains in the upper part. To split the tour, stay overnight at the Totalphütte. Access via Brand and the Lünersee cable car (first ascent 8 am).
