„Von Gortipohl to the Grappeskopf“ is a demanding circular hike starting at Ortsmitte (Gortipohl). Start and finish are the same, so you return to your car or bus stop without any shuttle.

The route measures 16.8 km, with 1454 m of ascent, pure walking time is around 7:45 hours. The highest point is at 2,254 m, the lowest at 906 m.

The starting point is reached by cable car – in summer the ride is included with the Freizeit-WildPass (summer multi-day pass), otherwise a lift ticket is needed; the free Montafon guest card only gives a discount.

💡 Tips & refreshments

Start early – summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms. Carry enough water; many huts are only open from late June to late September.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.

🚌 Getting there by public transport

Landbus 650 (Schruns–St. Gallenkirch–Gaschurn–Partenen), stop Gortipohl/Garfrescha; ski bus in winter. 8-minute walk from the holiday house.

Free car park at the Garfrescha cable car valley station (summer). Walkable from the holiday house – no car needed.
