Bartholomäberg via Chrestlis Egg to Filters/Fernblick

This small loop is the introductory walk in Bartholomäberg (1,087 m): from the baroque church you climb gently via the Riederhof to Chrestlis Egg and on to the Filters meadows at Fernblick, the highest point at 1,246 m, and return to the village along the Panoramastraße. 4.33 km, 162 m of ascent, about 1½ hours, easy. The route alternates between cleared lanes and rolled meadow paths, and the name Fernblick (“far view”) says it all: from here you look across the valley to the Rätikon with the Drei Türme, Sulzfluh, Drusenfluh and Zimba and into the Gauertal. According to the provincial trail data the winter paths around Bartholomäberg are mostly cleared, groomed on the meadow sections.

From our house it is 20 minutes by car, with parking opposite the church; by bus take line 650 to Schruns and line 640 up to the Bartholomäberg Kirche stop. The loop suits families and an afternoon; the village inns serve refreshments. A look inside the baroque church is worthwhile before or after the walk.
