Latschau via the Ziegerberg to Grabs and back through the Gauertal

This loop solves the logistics problem of the Grabs walks because it starts at the bottom: from the walkers' car park by the Latschau fire station (around 1,016 m) you climb over the Ziegerberg through forest and across meadows to the Berggasthof Grabs at 1,377 m, the highest point, and return via the Volspora and the Gauertal along the Rasafei stream to Latschau. 8.71 km, 361 m of ascent, about 3 hours, moderate. According to the provincial trail data the paths around Latschau are mostly cleared and those around Grabs groomed; the view alternates between the Golm and the Zimba opposite and the Drei Türme in the Gauertal, which – as descriptions put it – rise Dolomite-like above the head of the valley.

From our house 19 minutes by car (paid walkers' car park in Latschau, alternatively the Golmerbahn car park) or bus 650 to Schruns and Landbus lines 601/605 to Latschau Kraftwerk. Refreshments at the highest point at the Berggasthof Grabs (daily except Wednesday in winter, according to the operator from mid-December until shortly after Easter) and down in the valley at the Gauertalhaus (winter 2025/26: 25 December to 5 April). To shorten the way back, hire a sledge at the inn for the toboggan trail to Latschau.
