From Kristberg along the Panoramaloipe to the Wildried and back
The Kristberg's panoramic walk: 8.9 km from the top station beside the ski track to the Wildried high moor (1,562 m) and back – Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta in view.
The Kristberg calls itself the "mountain of indulgence", and this walk is its showpiece: from the top station of the Kristbergbahn (1,444 m) the winter trail follows the Panoramaloipe – a 9.3 km cross-country track with views of the Rätikon and Verwall – out to the Wildried, a large high moor at 1,562 m that lies as a wide white plain in winter. You return the same way: 8.9 km, 181 m of ascent; the track allows three and a half hours (the operator quotes two and a half for its slightly longer variant). From here you see three mountain groups at once: the limestone walls of the Rätikon, the Verwall and the glaciated Silvretta.
Only part of the route is recorded in the state network as a groomed winter trail; in practice the path runs beside the ski track, which the Kristberg grooms freshly every day – please walk beside, not in, the track. Refreshments at the top station in the Panoramagasthof Kristberg and the Knappastoba; the Kristbergbahn (reversible cable car, 1988) runs in winter 2026/27 according to the operator from 11 December 2026 to 29 March 2027, daily from 7.45 am. From our house: buses 650 and 680 to Silbertal, around 35 minutes, or 29 minutes by car.
