Silvretta Montafon summer: Hochjoch cable car & panorama trail

Two lifts from Schruns to 2,300 m, then 7 km past the Seetal lakes to the Wormser Hütte (2,307 m) – a 3-hour high-level walk, 13 minutes from the house.

The Hochjoch (2,520 m) is Schruns's local mountain and in winter part of the Silvretta Montafon ski area; in summer the Hochjoch cable car takes you from the edge of the village to the Kapell station at around 1,850 m and the Sennigrat chairlift on to almost 2,300 m. From there begins the Seetalweg, our route: 7 km, about 300 m of ascent and descent, around 3 hours. The path drops to the Seetal lakes – Herzsee (2,216 m), Schwarzsee and the reservoir – and crosses to the Wormser Hütte at 2,307 m, which the Worms section of the German Alpine Club built on the ridge in 1906/07 without machinery. From the hut the detour to the Kreuzjoch (2,395 m, 45 minutes) is worthwhile; the view stretches over the whole Montafon to the Rätikon and Silvretta.

In 2026 the Hochjoch cable car runs daily from 13 June to 26 October, 8.30 am to 5 pm, the Sennigrat lift from 20 June to 4 October (lunch break 11.45 am–1 pm); on selected Fridays in summer there are evening rides until 9.30 pm. Both are included with the Freizeit-WildPass. According to the DAV, the Wormser Hütte is staffed from 19 June to 4 October 2026. From our house it is only 9.8 km / 13 minutes; by bus 650 or the Montafonerbahn to Schruns and a five-minute walk to the valley station. For experienced climbers the Hochjoch via ferrata starts above the Schwarzsee (grade C, about 4 hours, 60 m rope bridge).

💡 Tips & refreshments

High alpine terrain: jacket, sun protection and sturdy shoes even in high summer; note the last Sennigrat descent at 4 pm. In summer 2026 the Wormser Hütte offers dormitory places only (rooms being renovated). Parking at the Hochjoch cable car is charged; alternative car park at the Zamang cable car.
