Almhütte Fellimännle

The Almhütte Fellimännle lies at around 1,100 m on the valley floor of the upper Silbertal, where the Litzbach adventure trail ends – an offshoot of the Mäser family's Hotel Alpenrose in Silbertal. The house is more a day-trip inn than an alpine dairy: cold platters with Montafon produce, trout from its own pond, game from the family's own hunt and, by prior order, spit-roast pork, plus a beer garden and terrace. For families it is a safe bet: a big playground, and with a little luck you can watch marmots straight from the terrace in the morning or late afternoon. An English-language travel blog expressly recommends the Litzbach trail with the playground at the Fellimännle for children. Two chalets with sauna can be rented.

You reach the hut only on foot or by bike: from the car park at the Kristbergbahn valley station in Silbertal (bus 680 from Schruns) along the Litzbach adventure trail in about an hour (7.5 km there and back, 220 m of ascent), or from the Kristbergbahn top station in 2 to 2½ hours. From our house allow about 35 minutes to Silbertal (bus 650 to Schruns, then 680). Summer mid-May to mid-October daily 10 am – 6 pm; in winter Thu–Sun 11 am – 5 pm, then by the hotel's electric shuttle or along the winter walking trail.
