Alpengasthof Rellstal

Municipally owned alpine inn at the terminus of the hikers' bus in the Rellstal (approx. 1,490 m), facing the Zimba – 45 minutes below the Heinrich-Hueter-Hütte.

The Alpengasthof Rellstal stands at around 1,490 m in the upper Rellstal, a nature reserve about 7 km above Vandans, with the Zimba directly opposite. The house belongs to the municipality of Vandans; after a season without a tenant (2023) it is now run by Nina Faber and is once again what it long was – a meeting place for hikers, hunters and alpine herders, with a terrace, cold drinks, coffee and a small selection of food. Simple rooms are available for overnight stays. There is currently no website of its own – best ask about rooms, menu and prices by phone.

The Rellstal is closed to cars. The hikers' bus is the practical option: it runs from Vandans railway station (also stopping at the Golmerbahn) to the terminus right in front of the inn – in 2026 at weekends from 4 June and daily from 27 June to 13 September. From here it is only 45 minutes to the Heinrich-Hueter-Hütte, which is why the inn is the classic rest stop on the way up or down. From our house allow a good half hour to Vandans (bus 650 to Schruns, Montafonerbahn to Vandans). Summer 2026: 27 June – 13 September daily except Wednesday 10.30 am – 5 pm, plus some weekends in June and September.
