Heinrich-Hueter-Hütte (1,766 m)

The Heinrich-Hueter-Hütte of the Austrian Alpine Club's Vorarlberg section has stood since 1909 at 1,766 m in the upper Rellstal, directly below the Zimba (2,643 m), the striking rock tooth above Bludenz. Simon and Iris Bock run the house; Iris heads the kitchen, which serves hot food non-stop from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm – there is no half board, but à la carte dinner, packed lunches and children's dishes. You sleep in multi-bed rooms (40 beds) or dormitory bunks (40 places); the Alpine Club awards the hut its environmental seal and lists it as family-friendly. In front of the house are a sun terrace and an artificial climbing wall, and the Zimba climbing area and the demanding Saulakopf via ferrata (D/E) start here. In winter the hut is closed; three unheated emergency bunks remain.

The Rellstal is closed to cars. In summer the hikers' bus runs from Vandans railway station (also stopping at the Golmerbahn) to the Rellstal terminus at 1,490 m, from where it is 45 minutes to the hut; in 2026 it runs at weekends from 4 June and daily from 27 June to 13 September. On foot it takes 3¼ hours from Vandans, 3 hours from the Golmerbahn top station and 2 hours from the Lünersee. From our house allow a good half hour to Vandans (bus 650 to Schruns, Montafonerbahn to Vandans). Season 2026: 6 June – 3 October.
