Alpenhotel Garfrescha

The Alpenhotel Garfrescha is the second place to eat on the Garfrescha plateau above St. Gallenkirch: a three-star hotel of the T3 group at 1,500 m with 35 rooms, restaurant, conservatory, parlour and a large sun terrace, in winter right by the piste of the Silvretta Montafon ski area. It stands about 300 m south of the top station of the Garfrescha lift, a 5 to 10-minute walk, quieter than the Vermala Wirt by the lift. Day guests get cakes, a daily menu and, in winter, hot food from 12 to 3 pm, bar until 6 pm; hotel guests dine on half board in the evening. Tour operators from Switzerland and Germany list the house as family-friendly, with sauna, ski guiding and the Garfrescha night tobogganing evenings on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

For us the way is short: 8 minutes on foot from the holiday house to the valley station of the Garfrescha lift, chairlift up (summer 2026: 27 June – 4 October, included in the Freizeit-WildPass), then a few minutes across the plateau with its maisäß huts. Walkers climb up in 1½ to 2 hours via the Maisäßweg; in summer the 5 km private road is also open to cars (parking at the top for a fee). In winter the hotel can only be reached by lift – luggage travels on the hotel's own goods cable car. Open year-round.
