The Vermala Wirt stands at around 1,500 m directly above the top station of the Garfrescha lift, on the valley run down to St. Gallenkirch. Many still know it as the Brunellawirt – since the Tschanhenz family (Genusshotel Vermala) took over the house in 2024, it has been called Vermala Wirt from the 2025/26 winter season. Its history goes back to 1969, when the Brunella snack station was built here; in 2004 it reopened as the Brunellawirt, and in 2019 the conservatory with a folding glass roof was added. Today it is a mountain inn with sun terrace and valley view, a playground and a menu ranging from Käsespätzle, Kaiserschmarren and Wiener schnitzel to beef tartare and spare ribs. In winter après-ski with a DJ runs from 2 pm, and on tobogganing evenings (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) hot food is served until 7.30 pm before you head down the floodlit toboggan run to the valley.

For us the Vermala Wirt is the nearest hut of all: 8 minutes on foot to the valley station of the Garfrescha lift, chairlift up (summer 2026: 27 June – 4 October, included in the Freizeit-WildPass), 100 m walk. Back to the valley, the Maisäßweg takes 1½ to 2 hours. Summer 2026: Monday to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 11 am – 5.30 pm; Thursday and Sunday until 9 pm with a sunset dinner. In winter daily from 8.30 am with a breakfast menu.

🧭 Route description

From the holiday house 8 minutes on foot to the Garfrescha lift (600 m), chairlift to the top station, then 100 m uphill; on foot via the Maisäßweg 1½ to 2 hours.

💡 Tips & refreshments

Book for the sunset dinner on Thursday and Sunday (a shuttle is offered). Mind the last descent of the Garfrescha lift or plan the walk down via the Maisäßweg. Hire toboggans in the valley for the toboggan evening.

Walk from the house to the Garfrescha cable car (600 m), then ride up.
