The Sonnen Barga is the most straightforward stop in the ski area above St. Gallenkirch: a self-service snack station run by Silvretta Montafon at the mid station of the Valisera cable car at around 1,640 m. It serves drinks and small dishes – the Alpine kebab, also available vegetarian, is the signature item – plus a terrace that catches the evening sun in the afternoon. The Sonnen Barga is a winter-only business; it stays closed during the summer season.

For us the Sonnen Barga is the halfway stop: the Valisera cable car is 2 km from the holiday house (ski bus or bus 650/670, stop 400 m from us); the first section to the mid station takes just under 6 minutes. The Barga is handy for a last coffee before the run down to the valley or as a meeting point with ski-school children who practise in this area.
