Gauertalhaus (1,250 m)

The Gauertalhaus of the Naturfreunde Vorarlberg lies at 1,250 m at the entrance to the Gauertal above Latschau, with an open view of the Drei Türme. It is the first organically certified hut of the Naturfreunde Österreich: hut warden Anna Mangeng and her family, who have run the house since 2012, source many ingredients from their own organic farm, the Kristahof in Tschagguns. The menu offers regional dishes, cakes and sundaes, and a mountain breakfast by prior order. For families the house is ideal: playground and petting zoo right outside, a changing table, and dogs are welcome. 26 guests can stay overnight in four-, two- and six-bed rooms, with showers and a drying room.

From the hikers' car park in Latschau (behind the substation, free) it is 40 to 45 minutes and around 250 m of ascent on a wide track – easy with children; if you want more, continue in 1½ to 2 hours to the Lindauer Hütte. In winter the road is groomed and a toboggan run leads from the house down to Tschagguns; toboggan evenings for groups are available on request. From our house allow about half an hour to Latschau (bus 650 to Schruns, then the local bus towards Latschau/Kraftwerk). Opening 2026 according to the tourist board: summer daily until 4 October, October Thu–Sun, winter from 25 December.
