Neue Heilbronner Hütte (2,320 m)

DAV Heilbronn family hut on the Vorarlberg/Tyrol border: 104 sleeping places, award-winning Montafon cooking – 2½ hours from the Zeinisjoch, 4½ from Tafamunt.

all year 👨‍👩‍👧 Family friendly

The Neue Heilbronner Hütte of the DAV Heilbronn section stands at 2,320 m exactly on the border between Vorarlberg and Tyrol – and on the watershed between Rhine and Danube – in the southern Verwall, with a small mountain lake beside the house. It was inaugurated in 1928 after the old hut in South Tyrol had been lost following the First World War, and has been extended several times. Olivia Immler runs it in the family tradition of the Immlers, who have hosted here for more than 40 years. There are 48 beds and 56 dormitory places, three dining rooms, showers, a Kneipp pool and the unlocked winter room Peter-Käß-Hütte with 28 bunks. The kitchen holds the DAV "So schmecken die Berge" (taste of the mountains) seal: Montafon Marend (cold platter), Montafon schnitzel, Kaiserschmarren, a vegan sweet potato and peanut stew and home-made alpine herb lemonades, served in the traditional Brenta. Add to that the environmental seal and "Mit Kindern auf Hütten".

Approaches from four directions: from the Zeinisjoch via the Verbella alp 2½ hours (track, also for mountain bikers), from Partenen with the Tafamunt tramway via the Wiegensee 4½ hours, from Partenen on foot 4 to 5½ hours, from Galtür or St. Anton via Verwall high routes. From our house take bus 650 for about 20 minutes to Partenen (8 km). The hut is a stage on the Verwall circuit; the Wormser Höhenweg to the Wormser Hütte is a royal stage of 8½ to 10 hours. Season 2026: 19 June – 4 October.
