Montafoner Resonanzen (culture festival)

The Montafoner Resonanzen is the valley's music festival: on six weekends between early August and early September, ensembles from Austria and abroad perform in churches, chapels, on alps and in historic buildings such as the Altes Gericht in Schruns. Each weekend has its own focus – brass, chamber music, jazz, crossover, organ and folk music – and the venues are chosen so that the music suits the space: chamber music in the baroque mountain church, folk music at the alp hut, organ sounds in the village church. The roots go back to 1977, when the Montafon summer concerts were founded; in 2002 the Stand Montafon relaunched them, and since 2017 the festival has been called Montafoner Resonanzen – in 2026 it was held for the tenth time under this name, organised by Montafon Tourismus.

Dates: 6 August to 5 September 2026 and 6 August to 4 September 2027. Tickets are sold in advance at all Montafon tourist offices, including St. Gallenkirch; in 2026 they cost €22 in advance and €27 at the door, children and young people up to 16 go free, the folk-music evenings are free of charge (some involve a cable car ride), and the Kulturklub festival pass bundles four concerts for €60. Most venues lie between Schruns, Bartholomäberg and Silbertal – about 13 minutes by car from our holiday house, or by bus 650 and the Montafonerbahn railway; for concerts on alps and at the Kristberg allow for the last cable car down or the walk back.
