Kunstforum Montafon

The Kunstforum Montafon (KFM) in the Kronengasse is the valley's venue for contemporary art. Founded in 1996 from a private initiative around the painter Roland Haas, the association converted the former loden mill of Schruns into course and exhibition rooms usable all year round. Two things run in parallel here: seminars and workshops in painting, watercolour, drawing, photography and printmaking – and an exhibition programme focused on Austrian contemporary positions, such as the group show “FILTER 2.0” in summer 2026 or the “WERK.SCHAU” of course participants from 20 September to 18 October 2026 with guided tours by Roland Haas. The KFM also organises the SilvrettAtelier, a high-alpine art symposium held on the Bielerhöhe since 1998. Admission is free.

During exhibitions it is open Wednesday to Friday and Sunday from 4 to 6 pm (as of 2026) – a good late-afternoon item after a hike. From our house it is 10.8 km or 13 minutes; bus 650 and the Montafonerbahn stop at Schruns station, and the Kronengasse is in the village centre. A few minutes away the MAP Kellergalerie in the Bahnhofstraße shows changing exhibitions, and on 3 October 2026 both take part in the ORF Long Night of Museums.
