„Vom Kristberg übers Muttjöchle and Sonnenkopf ins Silbertal“ is a moderate hike in the Montafon.

The route measures 18.7 km, with 663 m of ascent and 1226 m of descent, pure walking time is around 6:10 hours. The highest point is at 2,068 m, the lowest at 880 m.

The starting point is reached by cable car – in summer the ride is included with the Freizeit-WildPass (summer multi-day pass), otherwise a lift ticket is needed; the free Montafon guest card only gives a discount.

The route leads via Muttjöchle (2074m), Gritschbach-Wasserfall, Pinge, Knappenweg Abzweigung, Untere Wasserstubenalpe, Almhütte Fellimännle, Hasahüsli, Teufelsbach, L4: Bergstation Sonnenkopfbahn, Klösterle, T7: Jausenstation Hasahüsli, Silbertal, Weitsprung, Klangspiel and Hangelbalken.

Start early – summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms. Carry enough water; many huts are only open from late June to late September.

From the holiday house in St. Gallenkirch the starting point is easy to reach by Landbus (stop 400 m away) or car – see the travel notes.

Landbus 680 Schruns–Silbertal to the Kristberg cable car valley station; hiking bus into the upper Silbertal (summer). From St. Gallenkirch via Schruns approx. 35 min.
