The Wiegensee at around 1,900 m is the heart of a European protected area: a small moor lake with rare plants, dragonflies and a silence rarely found elsewhere in the Montafon. The Wiegensee trail starts at the summit station of the Tafamunt cable car in Partenen, climbs through forest and alpine meadows to the lake, continues to the Verbella alp and returns through the Ganifer valley to Partenen. Around 13 km, 460 m of ascent, about 4½ hours – a moderate day with plenty of landscape and little bustle.

English-language hiking guides highlight the combination of high moor, views of the Silvretta and the stop at the Verbella alp. The shorter variant is Tafamunt – Wiegensee and back (5.4 km).
