Badmunt Loop

The Badmunt loop is the classic afternoon walk from the centre of St. Gallenkirch (878 m). From the church square you head down the valley to Galgenul, where the Valisera and Grasjoch cable cars start, pass the football pitch, cross a wooden bridge to the far side of the Ill and return to the village through the forest by the Badmunt forest campsite. 5.85 km, 113 m of ascent, about 1½ hours – easy, with no real climbs, on cleared and rolled paths between woods, snowy meadows and the river. According to the provincial trail data, most winter paths around St. Gallenkirch are groomed routes.

For our guests this is the loop that needs no driving: the St. Gallenkirch bus stop (lines 650/670) is 400 m from the house, and by car it is two minutes to the car parks at the church and the Valisera cable car. The inns in the village centre serve refreshments. If you want more, extend up the valley with the Gortipohl loop or add the night toboggan run at the Garfrescha cable car in the evening; the Garfrescha cable car runs from 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027 in winter 2026/27.
