The Gortipohl loop starts at the valley station of the Garfrescha cable car, 600 m from our house, and follows the Blendolmaweg past the Malin sawmill through the centre of Gortipohl (950 m), past the secondary school and back along the Illweg through the hamlets of Innergant and Außergant. 3.76 km, 92 m of ascent, about an hour – level, easy, on rolled and cleared paths between the Montafon farmhouses and the snowy meadows by the river. According to the provincial trail data the winter paths around Gortipohl are mostly groomed, so the loop also works with a pushchair with large wheels or a sledge in tow.

We walk it on the first evening after arrival or after lunch: along the way you see the Garfrescha gondolas above you, the slopes of the Hochjoch opposite and, on clear days, the Silvretta up the valley. In winter 2026/27 the Garfrescha cable car runs from 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027; on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings the floodlit night toboggan run is open, so the loop combines well with an evening of sledging. Refreshments in the inns of Gortipohl.
