Partenen (1,051 m) is the easternmost inhabited place in the Montafon, a power-station village at the foot of the Silvretta High Alpine Road, which is closed in winter – the Bielerhöhe is then reached only by the Vermunt cable car and tunnel bus. The big village loop circles the village: from the centre along the Alte Schulstraße and Hauptstraße past the fire station to Rütler and Gufelste, to the toll station of the high alpine road and the Bellamaisäß, then past the Maler chapel and back along the Ill on the Verbellabachstraße. 3.51 km, 72 m up, 83 m down, about an hour, easy, on a well-groomed winter trail; the flanks of the Verwall and the Silvretta close in here, so it is correspondingly cool and quiet. According to the provincial trail data the winter paths around Partenen are partly groomed, partly cleared, with marked snowshoe routes alongside.

From our house 11 minutes by car (free parking at the Tafamunt and Vermunt cable cars) or about 20 minutes on Landbus 650 to the Partenen terminus. Refreshments in the village inns. We recommend combining the loop with a trip up to the Bielerhöhe – the Vermunt cable car and tunnel bus run from 25 December 2026 to 18 April 2027 in winter 2026/27 – or with the winter path from Gaschurn via the Rifabecken to get here.
