Small Village Loop Partenen

The small village loop is a stroll through Partenen (1,051 m), the last village in the Montafon with around 385 inhabitants, closely tied to the Illwerke power stations since the Vermunt plant was built in 1930. From the centre you pass the fire station and the swimming pool, follow the Ill to the hamlet of Gafadura and return along the Montafonerstraße. 1.84 km, 43 m of ascent, about 30 minutes, easy – on cleared village paths, partly groomed according to the provincial trail data. Above the village the cables of the Tafamunt and Vermunt cable cars climb the slopes; the Maisäß settlement of Tafamunt higher up was destroyed by an avalanche in 1968.

From our house it is 11 minutes by car (free parking at the Tafamunt/Vermunt cable cars) or about 20 minutes on Landbus 650 to the terminus. The loop is ideal for stretching your legs before or after the trip up to the Bielerhöhe by Vermunt cable car and tunnel bus (winter 2026/27: 25 December 2026 to 18 April 2027) or as an extension of the big village loop; refreshments in the village inns.
