Kristberg via Glän to Innerberg
Up by the Kristberg cable car, down on foot: via Totabühel and Glän to Innerberg – 3.4 km, 269 m of descent, one hour, back by bus 640.
This route is the comfortable way down from the Kristberg plateau into the valley: the Kristberg cable car takes you from Silbertal up to around 1,440 m, and from the Panoramagasthof Kristberg you walk steadily but gently down via the Totabühel meadows and the Glänweg to Innerberg (around 1,170 m), the farthest hamlet of Bartholomäberg. 3.44 km, 269 m of descent only, about an hour, easy – on a rolled track, partly groomed and partly cleared according to the provincial trail data, with views across the Montafon to the Rätikon and Verwall. Before descending, a visit to the miners' chapel of St Agatha, the oldest surviving church in the Montafon, and a stop at the Panoramagasthof, the Knappastoba or the Gasthof Kristberg are worthwhile.
From our house 29 minutes by car to the Silbertal valley station or bus 650 to Schruns and bus 680 to Silbertal Kristbergbahn (about 35 minutes). According to the operator the cable car is expected to run from 11 December 2026 to 29 March 2027 in winter 2026/27. In Innerberg bus line 640 terminates at the “Gasthaus Mühle” stop and takes you back to Schruns – please note that the Gasthaus Mühle itself ended its regular service in June 2026. If your car is parked in Silbertal, it is better to walk the loop from Innerberg to the Kristberg and back, or to ride the cable car down again.
