Schrunser Feld loop

Level and sunny: 3.8 km from Schruns' Kirchplatz along the Auweg through the Schrunser Feld to the Zamang Bahn valley station and back – barely 30 m of ascent.

The Schrunser Feld is the open expanse of meadows south of the village centre – in winter a white plain with clear views of the Hochjoch and Golm slopes. The route leads from the Kirchplatz along the Auweg out into the fields and on to the Zamang Bahn valley station, then back the same way – so despite its name it is an out-and-back walk. 3.8 km, 29 m of ascent, about an hour and a quarter; winter walking does not get any easier.

The path is recorded almost throughout in the state's winter trail network as cleared, i.e. ploughed, and is usually passable with a pushchair or a sledge in tow. It also works well as a link: the Zamang Bahn takes you into the Hochjoch ski area, and if you are collecting children from ski school you can fill the waiting time here. Refreshments in Schruns; bus 650 from our house takes about 15 minutes, and there is free parking at the Zamang Bahn (then start in the opposite direction).

💡 Tips & refreshments

Ideal for families, older guests and dogs (on a lead). It can be windy out in the open fields – don't forget hat and gloves. After fresh snow the village centre is cleared first, the fields a little later.
