The Grasjoch trail is the shortest and easiest high-level walk in the Silvretta Montafon – and for us the most obvious one: the Grasjoch Bahn valley station is 2 km from our house. At the top, at around 1,970 m, a small loop of just under 1 km with 65 m of ascent starts at the summit station; half an hour is plenty, and the operator recommends it specifically for families. You walk on a groomed path over the ridge of the Grasjoch with views across the valley to the Rätikon and Verwall, then to the Grasjoch Hütte right beside the lift, which invites you in with regional cooking and a sun terrace.

Like all trails in the ski area, this one is laid out by the cable car company and tied to lift operation: winter 2026/27 from 12 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, pedestrians with the "ascent & descent" ticket. For more views, continue on the Hochalpila Bahn up to 2,430 m, or add the Freda winter trail, which also starts at the summit station. Get there from the house on foot or on bus 650/670 to the Valisera-Bahn stop; parking at the valley station is charged in winter.

💡 Tips & refreshments

Ideal for a first day of winter walking with children. Even so: sturdy boots, spikes when icy, dress warmly. The Snowpark Montafon lies next to the trail – keep off the pistes and the park. Trail status on silvretta-montafon.at.
