Vier Barga winter trail

The Vier Barga trail is the circular option among the high-level walks at the Versettla: from the Versettla Bahn top station (2,008 m) the marked track loops out to the Vier Barga viewpoint and back – 1.9 km, 87 m of ascent, about an hour, entirely between 2,000 and 2,030 m. The operator rates it as moderate, less because of the climbing than because of the narrow, often hard-frozen path. In return you get the full panorama of the inner Montafon: the Verwall opposite, the Silvretta up the valley, Gaschurn below.

Start and finish are at the Nova Stoba, the large mountain restaurant at the top station, so the loop is easily combined with a meal; if you have not had enough, follow up with the Gantakopf trail in the other direction. The trail is groomed by Silvretta Montafon and tied to its operating dates (winter 2026/27: 28 November 2026 to 11 April 2027); pedestrians use the "ascent & descent" ticket. From our house it is 5 minutes by car or around 10 minutes on bus 650 to the Versettla Bahn in Gaschurn.

The route leads via Bergrestaurant Nova Stoba and L19: Nova Stoba, Bergstation Versettla Bahn, Gaschurn and back to the starting point.

💡 Tips & refreshments

The operator itself recommends good footwear, poles and spikes. In fog or wind at 2,000 m you are better off staying in the Nova Stoba; check the avalanche bulletin and trail status beforehand. Dogs on a lead.
