The mountain restaurant at the Hochjoch top station (1,850 m) above Schruns, rebuilt in 2025: rotisserie, self-service, sun bar and a view of more than 200 peaks.

The Kapellrestaurant stands at 1,850 m at the top station of the Hochjoch cable car above Schruns and was thoroughly rebuilt and extended for the 2025/26 winter season. Today the building combines several areas: the waited-on Kapell Rotisserie on the first floor, a self-service with ski bar on the ground floor whose façade opens in fine weather, the sun bar on the terrace and, upstairs, the Hanglage wine bar (separate entry). The menu includes schnitzel, Kässpätzle (cheese noodles) and Zwiebelrostbraten (roast beef with onions); from the terrace, according to the operator, you look out over more than 200 peaks. A photovoltaic system with 175 modules sits on the roof.

From our house take bus 650 for about 15 minutes or drive 9.5 km to Schruns; from the railway station (Montafonerbahn) it is a 5-minute walk to the Hochjoch cable car. The aerial tramway takes just under 8 minutes. At the top, the Sennigrat cable car connects (summer 2026: 20 June – 4 October), taking you towards the Wormser Hütte, the Kreuzjoch and the Grasjoch high-level path. Hochjoch cable car summer 2026: 13 June – 26 October, last ascent 5 pm; on summer Fridays (26 June – 11 September) there is the Sundowner with evening rides until 8.30 pm.

🧭 Route description

Bus 650 (about 15 minutes) or car (9.5 km) to Schruns, 5-minute walk from the railway station to the Hochjoch cable car; the aerial tramway takes you in just under 8 minutes straight to the restaurant at the Kapell top station.

💡 Tips & refreshments

Breakfast from 8.30 am, hot food until 4 pm. Parking at the Hochjoch cable car is limited and charged – better take bus 650 or use the overflow car park at the Zamang cable car. A separate evening ticket applies for the Friday Sundowner.

Montafonerbahn to Schruns station (every 30 min from Bludenz), Hochjoch cable car a 5-minute walk; Landbus 650 from St. Gallenkirch approx. 15 min.

Parking at the Hochjoch cable car in Schruns is paid and limited; alternative free parking at the Zamang cable car.
