Wormser Hütte (2,307 m)

The Wormser Hütte of the DAV Worms section has stood since 1907 at 2,307 m on the ridge between Kreuzjoch and Zamangspitze, high above Schruns – with a view over the whole Montafon to the Rätikon and Silvretta. It is one of the few huts in the region you can reach in a quarter of an hour from a cable car and carries the "Mit Kindern auf Hütten" (family) seal. Hendrik Eberhardt has run the house since the 2024/25 winter season; the kitchen works on a self-service basis, and the summer 2026 menu lists Sura Kees wrapped in bacon, Kässpätzle, Kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings), Kaiserschmarren and a vegan lentil bolognese. Sleeping is in 22 room places and 42 dormitory places (the rooms are being renovated in 2026; the new ones can be booked from mid-September). In front of the hut are a Kneipp pool and a climbing garden – and, according to the warden, the highest letterbox in Schruns.

In summer you take the Hochjoch or Zamang cable car from Schruns to Kapell and continue on the Sennigrat chairlift (2026: 20 June – 4 October, lunch break 11.45 am – 1 pm), then 10 to 15 minutes on foot; the lake path from Kapell via Schwarzsee and Herzsee in 1½ hours is prettier. From our house it is 9.5 km or about 15 minutes by bus 650 to Schruns; if you want to climb from St. Gallenkirch, allow about 5 hours via Zamangspitze and Kreuzjoch. In winter the hut can only be reached on skis or a snowboard. Summer 2026: 19 June – 4 October, winter 23 December 2026 – 29 March 2027.
