Oberzalimhütte

The Oberzalimhütte belongs to the DAV Mannheim section and stands at 1,889 m in the upper Zalimtal, a quiet side valley of the Brandnertal in the Rätikon. The house, renewed in 2007, has deliberately stayed small: 28 beds and 14 dormitory places, two dining rooms, a large sun terrace and hot showers for overnight guests; you order half board or dinner on arrival. The section runs the hut together with the higher Mannheimer Hütte (2,679 m, currently being renovated) and has held the environmental seal since 2017. From the house you climb the Oberzalimkopf (2,340 m) in an hour, the Panüeler Kopf in 3½ hours and the Schesaplana (2,965 m) in about 4 hours; Dutch hut-to-hut tours through the Rätikon like to use the Oberzalim as their first night.

The approach starts in Brand (1,050 m) and leads up via the Glingaweg or the Fürggelesteig in 2½ to 3 hours and about 860 m of ascent; from 28 June 2026 the Leibersteig is open again as well. Bicycles are not allowed in the Zalimtal. From our house you drive about 40 km via Bludenz to Brand (about 45 minutes, parking in the village; bus Bludenz–Brand every half hour). Season 2026: 14 June – 1 October; closed in winter and without a winter room.
