Golmi's Discovery Trail

Golmi is the marmot of the Golm adventure mountain, and his discovery trail runs from the Grüneck top station at around 1,890 m down to the Matschwitz mid-station (1,521 m). Its 22 stations are about the power of water, the mountain forest and its animals: water wheels, marble runs, sound games and riddles that keep primary-school children busy. The operator recommends the trail from about 6 years; it is roughly one metre wide, zigzags downhill and is explicitly not suitable for pushchairs – child carriers are available at the Berghof Golm. Our track measures about 3.5 km with 390 m of descent; allow 2 hours with play breaks.

Ride up on the Golmerbahn from Vandans or Latschau to Grüneck (2026: 23 May to 18 October, 8.30–17.00, included in the WildPass). At Matschwitz you find an inn, a playground and the start of the forest slide park, which continues down to Latschau – so the discovery trail becomes a whole day without a single climb. Before you set off, enjoy the view of the Zimba and the Drei Türme from Grüneck. From St. Gallenkirch it is about 35 minutes by car to the Vandans valley station, or take bus 650 to Schruns and the Montafonerbahn to Vandans.
