Few via ferratas in the Alps are as unusual as this one: from the Lindauer Hütte you climb along the steel cable to the dark mouth of the Gauablick cave, pass through the cave by head torch and emerge on the other side onto the south flank of the Sulzfluh. English-language portals describe the experience as a “combination of via ferrata and cave hike”; the difficulty is C with short harder moves, plus length and alpine terrain.

The tour can be extended to the Sulzfluh or continued to the Carschina hut on the Swiss side and made into a multi-day loop via the Tilisunahütte back to the Golm. Allow 6 to 7 hours from the Lindauer Hütte and take a reliable lamp with spare batteries.
