Fishing at Silvrettasee, Kopssee & Ill
Fishing for trout and char: day ticket for the Silvrettasee (2,030 m) or Kopssee (1,809 m) €30, maximum six fish; on the Ill the Fischereiverein Montafon issues the permits.
Fishing against a glacier backdrop: the Silvrettasee at 2,030 m and the Kopssee at 1,809 m, both illwerke vkw reservoirs, are managed as fishing waters – rainbow and brown trout, brook char and Arctic char are stocked. The day ticket costs €30 for everyone, whether adults, guest card holders or locals, and allows a maximum of six fish per day; you may fish from 18, young people from 12 accompanied by an adult with a ticket. A landing net is compulsory, and according to the ticket sellers no official fishing licence is needed for these waters. Tickets are available online at hejfish.com, at the Silvrettahaus, the Hotel Piz Buin, Jagd & Fischerei Keckeis in Bludenz and the tourist offices in Gaschurn and Partenen. On the Ill and Litz rivers the Fischereiverein Montafon issues day and week permits (1 April to 30 September, four fish per day, one water per permit).
You reach the Silvrettasee from our house by bus 650 or a 10-minute drive to Partenen, then Vermunt cable car and tunnel bus (2026: 20 June to 4 October, last descent 17.00) – the high alpine road on the Vorarlberg side is closed until 2030 as things stand, and the Vermunt cable car car park is closed in 2026. The Kopssee is reached on foot or by bike on the Kops road from Partenen, which is closed to private cars, or by car from Galtür; the Kopser Stüble on the north shore provides the break.
