Partenen village loop

Partenen (1,051 m) is the last village in the Montafon, framed by the steep slopes of the Silvretta – and this loop shows it from every side. It starts at the Vermunt power station by the valley station of the Vermunt cable car. You run past the outdoor pool to Gufelgut and the “Gufelste”, on across the golf meadows to the toll station of the Silvretta High Alpine Road, climb to the Bellamaisäß and return via Lifinar to the village centre with the parish church of St Martin, whose origins go back to 1729; after the village fire of 1800 it was rebuilt within the same year. According to the track 4.7 km and 189 m of ascent, a guideline of just under an hour's walking – running it is a relaxed 30-minute starter. Surface: asphalt in the village, gravel and meadow paths in between.

At the finish the energie.raum is worth a visit, the illwerke vkw visitor centre on hydropower in the Montafon, right next to the Vermunt power station. Please note: the Silvretta High Alpine Road is closed on the Vorarlberg side after rockfalls, probably until 2030; from Partenen you reach the Bielerhöhe with the Vermunt cable car and tunnel bus (summer 2026: 20 June to 4 October). From our house bus 650 takes around 20 minutes to the Partenen terminus; by car it is 8 km.
