The Ga-Pa Loop links the two innermost villages of the Montafon into a long but technically simple run: 17.2 km, 587 m of ascent, between 918 and 1,190 m, graded moderate. From the Mountain Beach leisure park in Gaschurn it first follows the Ill path, crosses the bridge to the other side of the valley and runs along the hillside on forest and meadow tracks through Trantrauas and the Harzawald to the Vermunt power station in Partenen, Illwerke's oldest plant dating from 1930. Through Partenen you pass the swimming pool and the 9-hole golf course to the toll station of the Silvretta High Alpine Road, then return on the opposite side: via the Rifa basin and the hamlets of Rifa, Gosta, Winkel and Außerbach to Gaschurn. Underfoot: cycle path, forest tracks and meadow paths; the 3 hours 9 minutes in our fact box is a guide value for walkers, runners are back in a good two hours.

The loop makes a good long steady run without any cable-car logistics and can be shortened in Partenen with bus 650, which links both villages. Water from the fountains in Gaschurn and Partenen, refreshments in both villages. Mountain Beach is 5 minutes by car or about 10 minutes on bus 650 from our house; after the run the swimming lake beckons (2026 season: 22 May to 31 August).
