The middle distance of the Montafon Totale Trail, the Silvretta Montafon trail-running race: 15.8 km, 1,450 m of climbing and only 262 m of descent, from 814 m at the Valisera Bahn valley station in St. Gallenkirch up to 2,006 m at the Nova Stoba. The first climb rises steeply into the Maisäß hamlet of Garfrescha, then a loop through the Nova valley to the Alpe Nova and back to Garfrescha, before the second big climb up the Gantekopf (1,958 m) and along the summit ridge to the Nova Stoba mountain restaurant at the Versettla top station. Forest and alp tracks, open grassy ridges higher up with views over the Montafon; the 4 hours in our fact box is a hiking guide value. The finish is right on the Nova Stoba terrace – back down you take the Versettla Bahn to Gaschurn (summer 2026: 19 June to 4 October) or the Valisera Bahn to St. Gallenkirch (27 June to 20 September).

The 2026 edition took place on 4 July, the next is scheduled for 3 July 2027; alongside it there are the 10 km mountain run, the 31 km trail, a relay and the 45 km ultra. For us it is the home course: the Valisera Bahn is 2 km from the holiday house, the bus stop 400 m; Garfrescha and the Alpe Nova offer refreshments.

💡 Tips & refreshments

The organiser requires trail shoes and a phone and recommends at least a litre of water, rain and warm layers, hat, gloves and poles – good advice for training too. Weather changes fast on the Gantekopf; walkers have priority, and note the cable cars' last descent.

🚌 Getting there by public transport

Landbus 650/670, stop St. Gallenkirch Valisera cable car; ski bus in winter. 2 km from the holiday house (bus stop 400 m away).

🅿️ Parking

Large car parks and underground garage at the Valisera/Grasjoch cable cars: free in summer, paid in winter (Silvretta Park garage always paid, 11 kW EV charging).
