Gaschurn village loop

7.5 km running loop from Mountain Beach through all parts of Gaschurn – Rifa basin, Gosta, Vand and back along the cycle path, 215 m of ascent.

The village loop is Gaschurn's after-work run (979 m). It starts at the Mountain Beach leisure park, passes the mini-golf course and the fire station up the valley to the Rifa basin, the compensation reservoir of illwerke vkw between Gaschurn and Partenen, and then crosses via the hamlet of Rifa to the sunny side of the valley. Through Innergosta, Außergosta, Winkel and Vand it rolls gently through the meadows with views of Versettla and Valschaviel, before you reach the cycle path along the Ill at Außerbach and run back flat to the start. According to the track 7.5 km and 215 m of ascent; the guideline of 1¼ hours is a walking time, running the loop is considerably quicker. The surface is mostly asphalt on small village lanes, with gravel and meadow paths in between.

On the way you pass the Maria Schnee chapel, a pilgrimage chapel dating from 1637. At the finish, the natural bathing lake at Mountain Beach awaits in summer for a cool-down (season roughly mid-May to mid-September). From our house it is just under 4 km, about 10 minutes on bus 650 to the Versettla-Bahn stop; sporty guests simply run there along the cycle path and turn it into a 15 km loop.

Ideal for morning or evening runs; expect some local traffic on the village lanes. Free, no lift ticket needed. Only the cycle path sections are suitable for pushchairs.

Landbus 650, stop Gaschurn Versettla cable car (approx. 10 min from St. Gallenkirch); ski bus in winter.
