Röbi-Rüti Route Gargellen
6.2 km and 351 m of ascent via the Röbi and Rüti Maisäß hamlets, the Ronggalpe and the Gargellen Alptobel – the demanding trail loop on the slope above Gargellen.
Gargellen lies at 1,423 m at the end of the Gargellen valley and is the highest village in the Montafon; this loop explores the slopes above it. From the cable car car park you run down the valley through the Vergaldner Wäldle to the Röbi Maisäß and climb to the Ronggalpe, the highest point at 1,621 m. Across the meadows of Rüti you head back and descend through the Gargellen Alptobel into the village, past the church. According to the track it is 6.2 km and 351 m of ascent, guideline 1 hour 20 minutes walking time. According to OpenStreetMap mountain hiking paths and alp tracks alternate with short asphalt sections in the village – the paths on the slope are narrow and partly steep, hence the “hard” rating.
The loop is a good technique session for trail runners who want to practise narrow paths and root sections, and can be combined with the Suggadin Tour or the Vergalda loop for a longer Gargellen day. Very close to the Ronggalpe the Rongg waterfall thunders down, complete with its via ferrata. Refreshments in the village, water at the fountain by the church. From our house bus 670 runs hourly and takes around 20 minutes to the Schafbergbahn stop; by car it is 10 km.
