Suggadin-Tour Gargellen
6.6 km running loop down the Gargellen valley to the Fidelis chapel and the Sarotla springs and back via the Valisera Maisäß – 231 m of ascent, mostly forest track.
The Suggadin Tour follows the Suggadin stream, which gave Gargellen its name, down the valley. From the cable car car park (1,425 m) you run over meadow and forest tracks down to the Fidelis chapel in the hamlet of Sarotla (around 1,300 m). According to legend Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen blessed a spring here; the present chapel was built in 1912 and is a listed monument, and directly below it the Fidelis and Sarotla springs emerge. From the lowest point at 1,271 m the loop climbs via the Valisera Maisäß to 1,480 m and returns to Gargellen on the Schmalzbergstraße forest road. According to the track 6.6 km and 231 m of ascent, guideline 1 hour 17 minutes walking time. Surface according to OpenStreetMap: forest and gravel tracks, short paths, asphalt in the village.
The tour is the most relaxed of the Gargellen running routes and good for a steady run at base pace, as it has hardly any technical sections. At the end it combines well with the Vergalda loop (3.4 km) or the Valzifenz run. Refreshments in the village; from our house bus 670 runs hourly and takes about 20 minutes to Gargellen, by car it is 10 km.
